Description of project:
The project contributed to meeting the short and long term goals of economic and social development in Eritrea through the provision of essential engineering skills from Australia; re-training of Eritrean academic engineers, the development of critical engineering infrastructure (testing and experimental laboratories) and the training of professional engineers in Eritrea to an international standard.
Services provided:
Award, Diploma and short courses in Eritrea taught by UNSW academics; postgraduate training in Australia by UNSW staff managed by UNSW IP. Management of this international project for AusAID - including financial management, project evaluation, report writing, negotiation and the building of working relationships with project partners from a large range of cultural backgrounds. Managed a fellowship program at UNSW for Eritrean academics throughout the project, providing assistance with housing, cultural activities, pastoral care.
